This Consultation System presents an opportunity to solve the problems of inconsistency, risk and over-use of resources by ensuring that all YG employees have the corporate knowledge to do the work that reconciliation through consultation requires.

The proposed system would allow YG to track and map all information relevant to consultation. It is envisioned as a one-stop-shop for all departments to access information about Indigenous groups and their rights.  It will involve input and support from other departments, particularly the ones doing consultation on a daily basis, such as the Department of Energy Mines and Resources. However, all departments potentially have a legal duty to consult and so, all will benefit from this system.
