Brief Description of the Work:

The Ross River School has been experiencing the effects of detreating permafrost on the structure of the building. Over the years several releveling projects and a program of monitoring and ongoing repair have been put in place to ensure the long-term viability of the building and the safety of its occupants. 

The Yukon Government is currently monitoring the Ross River School with quarterly visits from an Architectural and engineering team. Tilt sensors in various areas of the building are being remotely monitored and several repairs/replacements have been planned to ensure the building continues to be viable and safe for occupancy. The results of this monitoring program have helped formed the following procurement:    

1. Mechanical Room Project – The intent is to add a heating plant outside and independent of the school to replace the existing heating plant. The project is conceptualized as being a modular build from off-site and transported to and set up in place. The New Mechanical Room (modular) needs to be as close in proximity as possible to the existing mechanical room to allow for tie-ins. The goal of moving the mechanical heating plant is to remove the heat load from the current mechanical room and crawlspace of the school. The existing mechanical room will be retained and set up as a backup heating system.
