The Department of Energy Mines and Resources is requesting information from interested parties to provide backup slaughter services under special circumstances – e.g. for game farm animals, emergencies, unforeseen disruptions, coordination for remote producers, and peak times. The goal is to maintain continuity of service during special circumstances without undermining the role of private abattoir operators.

This Request for Expression of Interest (“RFEI”) is intended to gather information that could assist the Government of Yukon (“Owner”) in the development of a subsequent procurement process potentially leading to a contract(s) or Transfer Payment Agreement(s) with the proponent(s). In the event that sufficient information is received, the Owner may, but is not obligated to, initiate a subsequent procurement process or opportunity. 

Interested parties are invited to respond to this RFEI by submitting a Response in accordance with the terms of this RFEI. Responses should include the information requested in Schedule A: Potential Scope of Work. Responses are non-binding, and this RFEI will not evaluate or rank Responses.

Provision of back up slaughter services will generally occur in the Whitehorse area, however back up services are to be available for livestock producers in all Yukon communities (remote work), and therefore may occur in all Yukon First Nation Traditional Territories.
